Special Advisor to the Trust

Dr. A. Ramamurthy, a postgraduate in medicine, is a seasoned professional with over 15 years of clinical experience and more than 12 years of corporate leadership across healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and research-driven enterprises. His multidimensional expertise spans clinical practice, institution building, corporate strategy, and governance at both public and private sector levels.

He commenced his professional journey by managing BG Hospital, a 50-bedded multi-specialty rural hospital, during the period 1985–1996, where he gained extensive hands-on clinical and operational experience. Transitioning into the corporate domain, he founded and served as Managing Director of Grandix Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and Grandix Laboratories Ltd. from 1996 to 2007. Under his leadership, the Grandix Group demonstrated significant value creation, scaling from an initial investment of USD 0.15 million to a strategic exit valuation of USD 32 million.

Dr. Ramamurthy has also contributed to public sector governance as a Board Member of the State Bank of India (Chennai Circle) between 2000 and 2003, thereby bringing valuable insights into financial oversight and institutional governance.

His entrepreneurial acumen is reflected in several successful ventures, including:

  • Establishment of a USFDA-approved formulation unit (2003–2006), later divested to Actavis at a substantial valuation
  • Founder & Director of Huclin Research Ltd., a contract research organization catering to pharmaceutical, biotech, and diagnostics industries globally
  • Founder of Livmedica, a medical device manufacturing company with international exports
  • Founder of SUPERMED, a retail pharmacy chain
  • President of the Regenix Group of Companies

In his role as Special Advisor to the Trust, Dr. Ramamurthy provides strategic guidance on healthcare initiatives, institutional growth, regulatory alignment, and impact-oriented program development. His advisory inputs are expected to significantly strengthen the Trust’s vision, governance framework, and execution capabilities.

Dr. Ramamurthy serves in a non-executive, advisory capacity and is not involved in the day-to-day operations of the Trust.
