PoSH, Maternity Benefits, Workplace Welfare & Labour Rights Awareness

1. Background and Objective

The Trust has been established with the objective of promoting women empowerment, dignity at workplace, and social welfare, particularly for women and vulnerable sections, through structured education, awareness, and capacity-building initiatives relating to workplace rights and statutory protections.

The Trust recognizes that lack of awareness of legal safeguards often results in workplace vulnerability and social inequity. Accordingly, the Trust seeks to address these gaps through preventive, educational, and community-oriented programmes, undertaken strictly on a non-profit and public-benefit basis.

2. Nature of Charitable Activities

In furtherance of its charitable objects, the Trust undertakes / proposes to undertake the following activities:

(a) Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace (PoSH)

  • Awareness and sensitisation programmes on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013
  • Educational sessions on rights, responsibilities, and preventive mechanisms for safe and respectful workplaces
  • Capacity-building programmes aimed at promoting behavioural change, workplace dignity, and gender sensitivity

(b) Maternity Benefits and Women-Centric Workplace Welfare

  • Awareness programmes on maternity benefits, workplace protections, and statutory entitlements available to women
  • Educational initiatives promoting maternal health, work-life balance, and supportive workplace practices
  • Sensitisation programmes addressing the rights of expectant and nursing mothers

(c) Workplace Welfare and Labour Rights Awareness

  • Awareness and training programmes relating to basic labour rights, workplace welfare, and statutory safeguards
  • Educational outreach initiatives for vulnerable and unorganised sections to improve access to information on workplace rights
  • Community-based programmes aimed at strengthening legal awareness and social security literacy

The Trust's activities are limited to education, awareness, and capacity-building and do not include legal consultancy, compliance advisory, litigation support, or any commercial services.

3. Mode of Implementation

The Trust carries out / proposes to carry out its activities through:

  • Workshops, seminars, and awareness sessions conducted by or on behalf of the Trust
  • Collaboration with subject-matter experts, social organisations, educational institutions, and community bodies
  • Development and dissemination of educational material, toolkits, and awareness content in local languages
  • Community outreach and engagement programmes

All activities are conducted without any profit motive and exclusively for public welfare.

4. Target Beneficiaries

The beneficiaries of the Trust’s activities include:

  • Women employees and workers
  • Vulnerable and marginalised sections of society
  • Youth, students, and community groups
  • Organisations and workplaces from a preventive and sensitisation perspective

Participation in the Trust’s programmes is open and inclusive, without discrimination on the basis of religion, caste, or community.

5. Geographical Area of Operation

The Trust proposes to undertake its activities primarily within the State of Tamil Nadu, with the possibility of extending to other parts of India, subject to availability of resources and alignment with its objects.

6. Governance, Financial Discipline and Compliance

The Trust ensures that:

  • All income and donations are applied solely towards its charitable objectives
  • No part of the income or property of the Trust is applied directly or indirectly for private benefit
  • Proper books of account are maintained and statutory compliances are duly observed
  • The Trust complies with Sections 11, 12, 12AB, 13, and other applicable provisions of the Income-tax Act, 1961

7. Status of Activities

The Trust has commenced PoSH and workplace welfare awareness programmes and supporting documents are enclosed.

OR

The Trust is newly constituted and proposes to commence these activities in a phased and structured manner.

8. Compliance Declaration

The Trust confirms that its activities are genuine, charitable in nature, and carried out in the interest of public welfare. The Trust does not engage in any religious activity or activity restricted to a particular religious community or caste.

9. Conclusion

The Trust respectfully submits that its activities relating to PoSH awareness, maternity benefits education, workplace welfare, and labour rights awareness constitute charitable purposes within the meaning of Section 2(15) of the Income-tax Act, 1961. The Trust therefore seeks registration under Section 12AB and approval under Section 80G(5) of the Income-tax Act, 1961.
